Research is a key to innovation

Hello everyone! Hope you all are having a great day. Today I am going to talk about the research I did for my project and how I feel about my outcome.

As per the Western Sydney University website: “Research is defined as the creation of new knowledge and/or the use of existing knowledge in a new and creative way so as to generate new concepts, methodologies and understandings.”

When I started my journey with the 3M young scientist challenge, I did lots of research on major problems in the world, possible solutions currently available, and solutions that need to be invented. The problem I picked for this challenge was global warming, climate change, and air pollution.

It is very important to know about the problem, understand the facts about the problem, identify the source or root cause of the problem, and learn about available solutions. Without research, it is not possible to identify the solution.

The problem I picked is the most important current global issue, scientists are still researching on many ways to solve this. When I came to know the fact that most of the US greenhouse gas emissions come from the transportation sector which contributes to global warming, I decided to find a way to reduce the emissions coming from passenger cars. I started working hard to identify the best solution which can be adopted easily in the fastest way possible. That way we can reduce this global issue and save the planet.

The hardest part of research is gathering information. Sometimes you will not find what you are expecting. Facts change daily, and it is hard to find current information. It is important for scientists to document the information and organize their research. To come up with an invention or a great solution to a problem, it is important to research, document, study, analysis, investigate, calculate, and execute it.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all in my next blog. Thank you.
