Charger Wars, Mosquitos, and Other Observations

Hey everyone! Welcome back to my second blog post.

The start of my summer mentorship so far has been AWESOME. I have a fantastic mentor, and we meet each Thursday to discuss my project and  also work on the Scientist Notebook, which is pretty fun. Aside from my 3M Young Scientists Challenge project, I've found a new obsession with kombucha (it's just so good!).

The Scientist Notebook forces you to think about what is happening around you. For example, why are drive-thrus so long? How do I keep losing library books? The worst one yet, why does my sister keep on stealing my computer charger?
It also helps me think about which problems are worth solving. For example, seizures can be dangerous and should be addressed. I cannot say the same about a plan for eliminating mosquitos forever (I swear, they hate me so much).

Similarly, 3M Scientists also solve problems in everyday work. They make all sorts of cool stuff, like Post-it Notes and Scotch Tape. It's incredible how they can develop new products to solve everyday problems.

3M Scientists, and scientists in general, are motivated to solve problems because they want to improve the world. They want to find new ways to make life easier and more convenient for everyone and help people suffering from diseases or other problems.

I deeply appreciate that scientists exist because their mark on the world affects everyone. The summer mentorship has already taught me a LOT, and it barely started!
Thanks for reading!

P.S. I am excited about the final event! It will be an excellent opportunity to showcase all the hard work everyone has done this summer. I cannot wait to see what fantastic inventions everyone has created!
