My Observational Process :D

Hello everyone! Welcome back to my 3M Young Scientist Blog. This is my 2nd blog post and today, I will be writing about how I make observations and USE them to find solutions. This simple process can be extremely beneficial when trying to find issues to solve, and.. it's actually not that hard! The struggle comes in when narrowing down your list to find the most 'important' issue.

I started off my journey by listing a BUNCH of prevalent issues in our world. From climate change to social inequalities, no topic went untouched. Afterwards, I had to pick 3 that I thought were really important. That was pretty difficult, but still didn't come close to how much I struggled with the final decision. After hours of contemplating and researching, I finally decided on skin cancer as my issue to solve.

It was SO hard to pick one topic to branch out with. The main issue was not that I couldn't think of ideas, but that I find it really difficult to deem one issue more or less "important" than another. I'm ending this blog post by sharing one of my motivators during my time of struggle. When I was stuck, I decided to take inspiration from none other than 3M scientists. I found a quote by their founder, encouraging everyone to follow their curiosity, and I thought I could share it with you.

"No matter how hard it gets, never give up on finding solutions."

That's it for today, I'll see you next time.
